Spring clean your car

So the Bank Holiday weekend is over and for those of you who don't use alternative means of transport you'll be back at work, commuting in the car. Make sure your car is efficient as possible:

Remove all bike racks, roof racks and roof boxes. The wind resistance is wasting fuel and costing you money. Remove them now!

Lighten the load. What's in the boot of your car? A set of golf clubs? A des res four man tent? Why waste fuel using your car as a shed? Get them out and save more money.

Check your tyre pressure. Reduce the rolling resistance of your tyres. Check here for more details.

Share your car. Cut your fuel bill in half by car sharing.

Nice blog!

I hope you don't mind me pointing out the obvious, but two people in a car is only better than one if the passenger would have made the journey by powered transport if you hadn't.

'Gratuitous' car sharing will increase rather than decreasing your fuel efficiency due to the extra weight.

Hi, I was wondering if you had heard of Soapods?

GO GREEN WITH THE NEW ECO-FRIENDLY WAY TO WASH YOUR CLOTHES

SOAPODS – nuts for the environment

We all know that climate change is more important than ever and most of us claim to be leading a green lifestyle, but can we be doing more at home everyday to be helping the environment? Made from renewable sources and using no harmful packaging, introducing SOAPODS to your laundry is one step in the right direction in making your household eco-friendly.
A Soapod is the pod from the soapnut tree – an entirely renewable source which grows in tropical climates.

As well as being eco-friendly, other benefits of using Soapods include: 100% organic - Soapods grow on trees, are 100% biodegradable and compostable.
Saves You Money - Up to 50% cheaper than conventional and other eco-products!
Allergy Free - With no added perfume or chemicals Soapods are kind to your skin and suitable for all allergy sufferers.
Good for your Clothes - Colours remain bright and soft, so there’s no need to add fabric conditioner. Sustainable - Soapod trees live up to 90 years and the wood and the foliage of the trees are also cultivated. No waste. No de-forestation.

Soapods are easy to use and come in handy sacks that you simply pop in with your washing. The pods can be used up to three times. And because they have a completely neutral odour, you can add essentials oils to give your washing a personal fragrance.

Soapnut products are enjoying huge success throughout Europe. In Germany alone more than 20,000 kilos are sold every month.

Soapods are available in all UK health stores and a selection of websites.

Prices are as follows:

190g (small) £4.95

500g (medium) £9.95-10.50

1kg (large) £19.95

For stockist details, usage instructions as well as other information visit, www.soapods.com.

If you would like to write about us please do get in touch.

When you've done all the great things suggested by caldini then don't forget about the car interior. Home Scents have a great Natural Car Kit which includes a natural surface cleaner (scented with spearmint & rosemary essential oils) for dashboard, inside doors etc, natural glass cleaner with lime and lemon for inside windscreen, mirror etc and a 50ml aromatherapy spray to freshen up the air and seats inside the car. All packed inside a natural Jute bag. Worth checking it out.
